A bunion is a bony prominence around the big toe joint which can eventually lead to pain, osteoarthritis and hammer toes.  

Treatments depend on the individual and stage of the deformity. Treatments may include:  

1. Footwear modifications
2. Orthotics
3. Exercises
4. Injection therapy  

In severe cases, surgery may be indicated.
