Heel Pain

The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis.

Plantar fasciitis is caused by overload of the plantar fascia. Patients often experience worsening pain when taking first steps in the morning, when standing after resting or after a long period of standing.

Heel spurs can develop over time as a complication of chronic heel pain.

A thorough biomechanical assessment is required to identify any underlying mechanical issues.

Treatment options include:

  1. Stretching and strengthening exercises.
  2. Strapping and padding.
  3. Footwear modification.
  4. Orthotics.
  5. Shockwave therapy.
  6. Laser therapy.
  7. Dry needling.
